Trump calls ‘60 Minutes’ host ‘disgraceful’ for reading WHCD suspect Cole Allen’s alleged manifesto on air

President Trump berated CBS News correspondent Norah O’Donnell after she quoted parts of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting suspect’s alleged manifesto, branding her a “disgrace” and saying she should be ashamed of herself.

Trump lashed out at the journalist during his “60 Minutes” interview Sunday night – hours after it emerged alleged gunman Cole Allen penned a 1,052-word missive stating he believed it was his righteous duty to target Trump administration officials.

The president became particularly irked when O’Donnell quoted Allen’s alleged words directly, saying, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”

“Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people,” Trump told O’Donnell after being asked for his reaction.

“Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.”

“Do you think he was referring to you?” O’Donnell asked.

“I’m not a pedophile,” Trump emphatically told the journalist. “You read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with all…stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated.

“Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let’s say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, ‘You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably…’ I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. “But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.”

O’Donnell tried to tell Trump she was just quoting the shooter’s alleged words, but Trump branded her “disgraceful.”

“You shouldn’t be reading that on ’60 Minutes.’ You’re a disgrace. But go ahead. Let’s finish the interview,” he said.

O’Donnell then tried to move the interview onto another part of Allen’s alleged manifesto – before Trump interjected, once again calling the journalist “disgraceful.”

Trump has never been charged with any crime relating to Epstein.

The president lashed out at his Democratic rivals after being questioned about Allen’s motive.

“I do think that the hate speech of the Democrats much more so is– is very dangerous,” he said.  “I really think it’s very dangerous for the country.”

Allen, of Torrance, California, previously attended a “No Kings” protest in the Golden State, his sister told NBC News.

In 2024, he donated $25 to ActBlue for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.

During the sit-down, Trump branded the shooter “pretty incompetent,” adding, “He got caught pretty easily,” before hailing law enforcement’s swift response.

Allen, 31, burst through the Washington Hilton hotel Saturday night and charged toward the ballroom, armed with a shotgun and several knives, where Trump and around 2,500 guests had gathered at the gala – before he was taken down.

“Those guys did a good job last night. They did a really good job,” Trump said.

Commotion erupted inside the ballroom – with tuxedo-clad guests were ordered to get on the floor, while Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President Vance, who were on the main stage, were bundled to safety.

Trump said he wasn’t “worried,” even though he was the victim of another assassination attempt.

“I wasn’t worried,” he said. “I understand life. We live in a crazy world.”

Trump sustained an ear wound after being shot by crazed gunman Thomas Crooks at the July 13, 2024, rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In September of that year, Ryan Routh lay in wait with an assault rifle, attempting to kill then-candidate Trump at his Florida golf course.

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy said Sunday  “discussions” have begun at the highest levels about whether “President Trump is going to have to start wearing a bullet-proof vest for future events in public.”
